The Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation US service centers has been raising funds to send medical supplies to the locked-down city of Wuhan, China, and is now expanding its aid to other cities across China currently confronting the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) epidemic. The essential supplies provided by Tzu Chi through this fundraiser will directly aid the doctors, nurses, and hospitals diligently tending to patients across China while endeavoring to keep others safe.

New England Conservatory’s Asian Students Association, sponsored by the Foundation for Chinese Performing Arts and the Tzu Chi Foundation USA, invites the Boston community to join us in two concerts of jazz, classical, and contemporary music in aid of doctors & patients fighting the spread of the coronavirus virus. Both events will be held at the New England Conservatory, beginning first on Saturday, March 7th with a night of jazz standards, and popular Chinese songs alongside Arnold Schoenberg’s 20th-century masterpiece, Pierrot Lunaire (with an introduction by longtime NEC faculty and composer, John Heiss). The March 13th concert will include both solo and chamber performances from internationally-renowned musicians Aristo Sham (piano), Maria Ioudenitch (violin), and Mari Nagahara (cello); and end with Mendelssohn’s brilliant Octet for Strings.

MARCH 7th:

Address | 255 Saint Botolph Street, Boston 02115
Bower Stage in the Student Commons
   Refreshments | 6-7:30 pm
   Music | 6:30-8:30 pm | Jazz & Contemporary
John Heiss introduces Pierrot Lunaire | 7:45 pm
    MARCH 13th:
Address | 255 Saint Botolph Street, Boston 02115
Music | 8-9:30 pm | Solo Piano & Chamber Music
   Post-concert reception | 9:45

Both performances are open to the public, however, donations are greatly appreciated. Guests are encouraged to give through Tzu Chi’s website and mobile app, or to view Tzu Chi’s selection of environmentally-friendly products in which all proceeds will go towards the purchase of medical supplies for Wuhan. Online live streaming option would be sent by email after registration. https://forms.gle/Ej6SX5sYJ2LK9vjN6
